M-DAT Partners with AskaMissionary.com
February 2009: M-DAT announced today that it has entered into an agreement with John McVay of Tulsa, Oklahoma, that brings AskAMissionary.com into M-DAT's family of services.
The agreement is a one-year trial period, intended as a stepping stone toward a permanent partnership. Under the agreement, McVay will continue his involvement with the project.
Work is underway to overhaul the AskaMissionary.com website. AskaMissionary.com boasts 400-plus text-based answers from Christian missionaries to hundreds of questions about being a missionary for one year or longer. Users can submit questions or answers.
"Our focus is websites that help people get involved in world missions; that makes M-DAT the natural home for AskaMissionary.com," said Peter Armstrong, M-DAT Executive Director.
John McVay said, "I've always believed in M-DAT and its strategic vision. AskaMissionary.com is a perfect fit with that vision, and I know the site and its content will reach new heights under M-DAT's direction."
Along with the question-and-answer website, M-DAT is also taking on responsibility for the Ask A Missionary newsletter, which has about 2,000 subscribers. No immediate changes are planned for the newsletter.
M-DAT plans to maintain a standalone AskaMissionary.com site, as well as integrate the Q&A content into PreparingToGo.com, which is currently in beta.
"We plan to raise the profile of this good, solid content. It's helpful information that people should know about. To strengthen the visibility and use of AskaMissionary.com, improving the site's ranking in major search engines will be a key focus," Armstrong said.
McVay is administrator of In His Image International and coordinator of the Tulsa Missions Mobilizers Network, as well as developer of the Journey Deepens retreats.
