April 2011: M-DAT recently launched a series of emails that coordinates with ShortTermMissions.com. Embark: A Better Mission Trip and More is a 5-part email series intended to help people planning to go on a mission trip prepare and debrief. Each installment of the eSeries is designed for a specific period of time, in relation to one's trip.
The first email is sent 60 days before the person's mission trip, and so on, culminating with the last email 30 days after he or she returns from that trip.
"This series helps fill a gap--it provides mission trip participants with basic trip preparation and then helps them process what they've been through when it's all over," said Peter Armstrong, Director of Program Services at M-DAT. "Too often, a mission trip is perceived as a one-time event rather than part of a journey."
The emails include guidance related specifically to each period of preparation, helping participants have the best mission trip they can.
"As we watched how people use ShortTermMissions.com, we realized the majority came to find a mission trip and didn't discover all its great resources. Embark allows us to help people throughout the process, from finding a trip, through preparing, to coming home and processing what's next in their mission journey," Armstrong said.
